Why should I get my roots touched up?
Roots and regrowth is a fact of life and everyone will experience it. Aside from coloring your hair, there are many reasons to touch up your roots:
Black Hair – All shades of black hair grow at different rates. Black hair doesn’t hold color as well as other colors of hair because it has less melanin (color) and its texture is more prone to damage. Black hair will need to be touched up every 4-5 weeks, especially with a root touch up system like Shades of Color by Redken Shades EQ. This system uses the same red pigment as our famous color line so you can get long lasting silky black roots, trust me…it’s amazing!!
Brown Hair – All shades of brown hair grow at different rates. Brown hair holds color very well but this also means it can be more damaging if you have a chemical process done often or near your scalp. This is why we recommend going only 4-5 weeks between touch ups. Colors on the brown spectrum hold better than reds and blondes on the light end.
Blonde Hair – All shades of blonde hair grow at different rates. This means some blonde hair may need touch up as little as once a month and others it can be as long as every six weeks depending on the shade of blonde you dye your hair to. The reds and blondes on the light end need touch up more often because of their porous nature.
Blonde highlights – All blonde hair will come out over time since there are no natural brown or black pigment cells in your hair strand to feed the color molecules. New yellow roots will start poking through your lighter ends after 6-8 weeks.
You can mix any shade in our color line so you are guaranteed to have the right tone everytime! This is not possible with home hair coloring kits since their colors are pre-mixed. Our clients come back time and time again for this amazing reason alone!
Ombre – is typically the darkest shade of color with each strand gradually lightening to a light,blonde or white at the ends. Most clients would like to touch up there perfect Ombre once every 5-6 weeks because it continues growing out faster than root touch up due to the hair lightening process.
How does it work?
When you go for a touch up it will be done by a licensed colorist who specializes in this type of color service. Please, don’t try to do this yourself at home!
Depending on how many shades lighter or darker from your desired base will determine the number of sessions needed. Each session is about 30 minutes long and can take place any day of the week unless a chemical service was recently done which would require time for your hair to return to its natural state before beginning process.

Am I Ready For Root Touch Up?
Your natural hair color can really contrast with your color treated hair. Roots can start showing anywhere from two to three weeks after color service. A good general rule of thumb is to schedule a root touch up every four to six weeks after your last service. This way you can keep you hair color looking fresh without too noticeable of a line of regrowth.
Your Ends May Need Refreshing Too
Depending on your type of color service your hair can fade. When you do a root touch up is a great time to refresh the color on your ends as well. There are products your stylist can recommend to help keep your ends fresh in between services as well.

Toning Process: For bleach touch up a toning process is required to create your desired color. A single toning process is $35-60 depending on length thickness of hair.
Bleach Protection Additive: Whenever bleach is used to lighten your hair it is very highly recommended to use a bleach protection additive. This will help tremendously in protecting the health of your hair. A single use additive is $35 for short to medium length hair. For long, thick hair or extensions additive can be $45+.

For Less Maintenance Consider Ombre
Ombre means “shade” and is a type of balayage hair painting technique. With this technique you can blend your root color into your desired color. This is very popular with blonding. I always see Leanne, and she’s fantastic. I got tape in extensions over a month ago, have been back once for a move up, a root touch up, and for a trim on my natural hair. She takes her time to ensure that everything looks great and gives the best advice on keeping the extensions looking amazing. I haven’t had any fall out, and my hair is super soft and healthy with the masks she uses. By far the best salon experience I’ve ever had. Update: I’ve had these same extensions in since May. This was the best experience and outcome I’ve ever had in a hair salon! Bold words but seriously not kidding! Not only did they accommodate me last minute they even helped me change to the salon closest to the airport so I wouldn’t miss my flight. Justin took care of everything and gave me not only the best highlights ever but most of all the BEST extensions for my thin and fragile hair! I had been wearing hats since having my last set of extensions removed ( in somewhere else).. I had such a fiasco with extensions before weather being too tight and causing constant headaches and scalp pain or just poor placement, or even too little hair leaving me with a heavy weight and pulled follicles from the root. These were all done by inexperienced practitioners which I clearly see now since my experience with Justin at hottie hair. He was so incredible in every way- listening to all my concerns and taking time to understand. I have always asked the stylist I had before if she could use one sided tape because my hair was so weak and she refused, putting in only sandwiches (2x the weight of single weft.) Well I happy to say I have it now, Justin agreed placing the tapes just perfectly on my head - not too tight and easy to pull up on a pony tail- he’s brilliant! I’m so sooo grateful it makes me tear up thinking of the hell ive gone through with other stylists claiming to be experienced with extensions but leaving my hair damaged and follicle strained. Justin also gave me a beautiful cut and moisturizing “miracle” hair treatment. There are not enough words to show my gratitude for such incredible service- I will be back every time! I've been buying hair extensions from this company since they first opened. Now that they've got a second location, 🤗, it's even more convenient and time saving to patronize their business. I've been doing my own hair for about 15 years- cuts, color, extension installation. Unfortunately, while trying a new hair bleach, I managed to burn my hair off. It's about 1/4 to 1/8 inch long in some spots. A real situation, but, manageable with the extensions. However, doing root touch ups is nearly impossible, even with my skilled experience. Without the four hours it would take, for me to go through every damaged section, and, not chemically burn what was left of my hair,I searched for a salon to do my roots. Believe it or not, finding a same day coloring appointment was almost an impossible task.... in Vegas, no less. As a last ditch effort, after being turned away by three salons, ..it was my husband who suggested the salon. I just figured, 'What the Hell?' They sell the highest quality hair on the market, they must provide high quality services to care for their product. The owners and their stylists are always trendy looking, in a professional way. That lead me to believe they pay attention to detail, that they want to provide confidence in their salon's style. Can you really trust someone to take care of your $$$-$$$$ hair if the stylists look a mess? I wouldn't. They have a very convenient, no-hassle appointment booking page, online. After you book your appointment, their office texts you to confirm it and sends you a link(for your navigation) to the appointments location. Pretty cool, huh? My hair was a complete disaster, but, the woman who fixed this spastic mess on my head stayed two hours after closing time to do the job the right way, consulting with the master stylist to be sure each step was exactly right. Victoria took several measures to not only touch up my roots, but, to care for the hair cuticle to prevent further damage. Not once, did anyone embarrass me or make me feel ashamed of melting my hair off. The atmosphere is very clean, bright, and lively! I STRONGLY recommend this salon to anyone who is looking for a new place. They have two locations, one on either side of (the I-15) town. You can book online, and they send you a text to remind you. They have expert education in chemical processes and recovery of severely damaged hair. This staff will even consult with a master stylist just to be sure every detail is right. Pricing is clearly expressed before services are provided- NO SURPRISE CHARGES. Although it's just a tad more pricey, the quality of the work is worth every single penny. You wouldn't wash your car with a sand paper cloth, right? This morning, 12 hours after my appointment, my burned and severely damaged hair is silky smooth, soft, and sitting like it should. The color is immaculate!This is definitely a luxurious pampering, affordable for the every day gal and guy. I promise, if you try this salon once, you'll never want anyone else doing your hair!

I have weft extensions, exotic color tape in extensions, highlights and need root touchups monthly. I wish I could give Hottie Hair Salon and Extensions 10 stars! I found Crystle desperately online after seeing her glowing hair extension reviews. I had just had a full set of tape extensions done by somebody else two weeks prior and had been losing hair left and right (total mullet.) Crystyle understood and sympathized with my hair emergency and squeezed me in right away. I can not put it into enough words how much she transformed me. Besides my god awful few extensions I came to her with still in my hair, my dark brown hair which had been attempted to be dyed blonde had a ton of orange in it. Crystyle exceeded my expectations by 1000% percent. She transformed me with beautiful golden blonde hair and gave me Russian virgin Remy tape hair extensions which blends completely seamlessly with my hair, is super soft and is thick from root to end. I feel and look like a brand new person. The salon carries an endless selection of tape, I-tip, weft, clip in and halo hair extensions in a ton of color options! Really amazing results! Check the picture I uploaded. I was very impressed by how it turned out. I needed so much correction before and Crystyle was able to do exactly what I wanted. The only downside was the price ($295) and she cut my bangs too short so I'll have to grow it out before I really love the cut and color on me. I found Jessica after I had an unexpected cancelation by a different stylist. I was frantically looking for a salon that was experienced in cut, color, as well as clip in extensions. I locked out with Jessica, she was able to fit me in the very next morning. I hadn't used a box color in years, but had to warn Jessica, out of impatiences I try and match my clips and had colored the tips of my hair. My goal was to fix the color, avoid dying my roots, give me a good treatment and only cut my split ends in order to let me hair grow. Jessica did an amazing job, she stayed at the bowl with me checking my hair every few seconds. Matched my color perfectly, while using colors that wouldn't damage my hair. Her technique in cutting my hair has been my absolute favorite, never removing length just the ends that have split. She's patient with me which I appreciate, my hair is short, curls a little and can frizz. I like it cut a very specific way and Jessica listens, always leaving me with the exact cut I wanted. To top it off she rocks at layering my clip-in extensions, she barely cuts into much of the hair, and blends them perfectly. I was really blessed in finding Jessica, as I'm not from Vegas, getting a good stylist was a challenge. I come to see Jessica every six weeks for a cut, she's always on time and I never wait more then a 2-3 mins before sitting in her chair. She recently cut my hair into an A-line. A style I've been trying to achieve for 7 years. Instead, each time ending up with a shorter version then Id asked for, that had never turned out flattering. I love my hair now! It's finally growing, it's flattering, I get lots of compliments and I'm so thankful to Jessica.

I was a a brunette with a bit of light brown ombre I really wanted to go blonde for so long. So one day I just took the chance, I talked to tony and he was so enthusiastic to work on my hair . I knew it was going to be a fun , friendly , and good experience. Ever since I've come for my long process of blonde once it came to the perfect color then i just constantly come get my treatments and roots done with tony. I text him or i call the store to see if hes there i love his service it will be a year this upcoming March. If he ever leaves I'm definitely sticking with him. Like he says stalker status.
