What Is Hand-Tied Weft Extensions?

Also called: Hand-tied wefts, HTW

Hand-tied wefts are ultra-thin curtains of hair sewn by hand and attached in rows along a track of beads — the most natural-moving weft method available.

Hand-tied weft extensions are long, ultra-thin "curtains" of hair whose strands are knotted onto a fine thread by hand rather than stitched by machine. Because there is no bulky machine seam, hand-tied wefts lie flatter and lighter against the head than any other weft type.

To install them, a stylist creates a track of small silicone-lined beads across the back of the head and sews one or more wefts onto the track — a row. Most looks use one to three rows. The row is moved up every 6–8 weeks as your hair grows, and the same hair is reused, so quality hand-tied hair is a long-term investment rather than a recurring purchase.

The method is prized for invisible blending, comfortable lightweight wear, and how naturally the hair moves — the reason it dominates the "lived-in luxury" extension look.
